Your first transaction (with fake ETH) — Key concepts
Page 3 of 6 — Section 3 of 6
From / ToFrom = who paid. To = who received. One wrong character in To can send funds into the void. Always copy-paste, then check the first and last 4 characters aloud.
Trusted third parties are security holes.
ValueThe amount sent. On testnet it’s fake ETH; on mainnet it’s real. Always notice the unit (ETH vs token name) so you don’t mix them up.
FeePaid to the network so your transaction is processed. If it’s too low, it can get stuck; too high wastes money. Watching testnet fees teaches you what “normal” looks like before you spend real funds.
NonceYour personal transaction counter. It keeps your sends in order and prevents duplicates. If two transactions use the same nonce, only one will stick; the other is replaced.
Status & confirmationsStatus moves from pending → success (or failed). Confirmations count how many blocks were added after yours; each block makes it harder to rewrite history.
Explorer vs wallet UIThe explorer reads from the chain directly. The wallet UI is a convenience layer. Trust the explorer when in doubt.
- Nonce:Your personal counter so transactions stay in order.
- Fee:Paid to miners/validators to process your transaction.
- Explorer view:Independent record that confirms what happened.
