5/6 — Gas & fees explained like you’re five — Project — fee cheatsheet

What to writeMake a one-page fee cheatsheet for your chain. Include normal ranges, when to pick slow/normal/fast, how to spot “too good to be true” zero-fee prompts, and when to wait for the network to quiet down.

Example outline

Normal range (my chain): slow ≈ X, normal ≈ Y, fast ≈ Z
When to speed up: time-sensitive actions; willing to pay up to ___
When to wait: non-urgent sends; retry in __ minutes if busy
Red flags: zero-fee prompts; “max fee” wildly above normal; hidden priority fees
Rule of thumb: if fee > ___% of the amount, reconsider or wait

Keep this cheatsheet nearby when using any wallet (MetaMask, Rabby, Coinbase Wallet). The fee math is the same everywhere: gas units × price per unit.

Add one more row: “What I’ll do if the fee looks wrong.” Example: cancel, re-open the app, and re-compare with an explorer estimate. This habit is what keeps beginners from clicking through scams.
