4/6 — Wallets: your keys, your coins — Hands-on lab
Steps
  1. Open the Keys &:Signatures demo (/demos/keys-signatures/) in a private window. Do not use your real wallet seed here—this is a practice environment.
  2. Click “Generate keypair.” Copy:The address and label it “safe to share.” Imagine this is the string you give people to pay you.
  3. In the demo, sign:A message like “I control this wallet — 2025-05-20.” Then click verify with your address. It should pass. Notice the private key never leaves the page.
  4. Change one character in:The message (e.g., add a period) and verify again. It should fail. This shows signatures are specific to both the message and the key.
  5. Copy your address, change:One character, and try to verify the same signature with the altered address. It should also fail—address typos break verification and can misdirect funds.
  6. Write a mini seed:Plan where you would store the seed (offline), how you would restore on a new device, and three “never do this” rules (no photos, no cloud notes, no support chats).
  7. Optional but recommended:Copy your practice address, read it aloud (first 4, last 4), and paste it back. Build the habit of checking both ends before any send.
