Foundations of Blockchain & Trust — Part 3

Trust Without Permission
Trust is the hardest currency to print.
For centuries, we outsourced it to institutions: banks, governments, companies. Blockchain reclaims it by replacing trust in people with trust in protocol.
Instead of believing that a third party won’t cheat, we verify through cryptography that they can’t.
That’s why early Bitcoiners repeated the mantra: “Don’t trust, verify.”
It wasn’t cynicism — it was a design principle.
Still, decentralisation isn’t perfection. The same openness that gives freedom also gives responsibility.
Lose your private key, and you lose access.
No customer support, no password reset.
Sovereignty has no helpline.
So, we stand at a new threshold: individual control without institutional comfort. It’s freedom, but with homework.
