6/6 — Reading a transaction on a block explorer — Check your understanding
Key points
  • Tx hash:What does it identify and where do you find it?
It’s the unique tx ID; copy it from your wallet history or explorer URL.
  • Logs:Where do token transfers show up and why are they separate from “value”?
In the Logs/Events tab; token Transfers/Approvals are events, while Value is only the native amount.
  • Fee:How do you see what you actually paid after execution?
Look at “Gas used” and the paid fee line; it’s gas used × price after execution.
  • Approvals:How do you spot an approval in the explorer?
Look for an Approval event in logs showing spender and allowance (often “unlimited”).
