1/6 — Reading a transaction on a block explorer — Lesson overview
Lesson outline
  1. Grab a tx hash:From your wallet history (testnet).
  2. Open it in an:Explorer and locate basic fields status, from, to, value, fee.
  3. Open the logs/events tab:To see token transfers or contract events.
  4. Compare a simple send:Vs a contract interaction (swap or approval).
  5. Summarize the result in:Plain English for each.

Plain-English storyThe explorer is your “black box” recorder. It shows what really happened, not just what a wallet popup claims. You’ll learn to read a transaction hash, from/to, status, fee, and token movements for both simple sends and contract calls.

What you’ll learnHow to tell if a tx succeeded, who sent/received, which tokens moved, what fee you actually paid, and how to spot approvals inside logs. You’ll practice on testnet hashes from MetaMask (or Rabby/Coinbase Wallet).

Your goalProve what happened using only the explorer: “I sent X to Y, it succeeded, paid Z fee, and approved spender S for N tokens” in plain English.
